Dr. Dimitri Koumanis is board-certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Originally from Canada, Dr. Koumanis attended medical school at the University of Western Ontario before training as a general surgeon at the world-renowned McGill University in Montreal, Quebec.
After McGill, Dr. Koumanis underwent additional training in Burns and Plastic Surgery at Indiana University School of Medicine where he learned the fine art and science of burn reconstruction and plastic surgery procedures. He also learned how to take care of critically ill patients. His final training ground was at Nassau University Medical Center via SUNY and the Long island Plastic Surgery Group (the longest running plastic surgery group in the United States). Here he trained in all aspects of plastic and reconstructive surgery including a significant amount of cosmetic surgery.
Upon graduation, Dr.Koumanis, was hired as an assistant professor of plastic surgery at Albany Medical Center and Albany Medical College where he also performed facial, extremity, hand trauma, abdominal wall reconstruction, and cosmetic surgery at their trauma and plastic surgery center. He was Director of Burns and Plastic Surgery Trauma at Albany Medical College from 2006-2010, and since then has enjoyed his own private surgery practice (www.capsny.com) in the beautiful Saratoga Springs and Glens Falls region of upstate New York.
Dr.Koumanis has published numerous book chapters and research publications in peer-reviewed medical journals, and has privileges at 4 Upstate New York hospitals—Saratoga Hospital, Glens Falls Hospital, Ellis Hospital and Albany Medical Center.
Dr. Koumanis completed the IV Training Course in San Diego, California, through the International IV Nutritional Therapy Global Physician Education Group.
